We would like to remind all families from Preschool that next Friday morning we will have a field trip, and one chaperone/family is needed. More details to come!

TPS1 – Caroline & Clarisse (2’s)

Hello/Bonjour Parents, Grandparents and guardians of TPS-1
This week, it has been my pleasure to quickly begin to connect with and understand each students personality, strengths and areas to focus on.
We continue to strive for smooth transitions and a solid sense of routine and understanding, and learning TPS1 expectations.
The class is becoming more social as we continue to emphasize introducing ourselves during Circle Time, sharing, taking turns and expressing ourselves with words.
Our songs for the week were

Our Tchoupi stories were fitting about celebrating Halloween and eating lunch in the “cafeteria” together.

Our table top activities continued to strengthen fine motor skills, following patterns, counting,
recognizing first names, identifying colors, shapes and sizes of farm animals, fruits and vegetables.

We stepped outside for Weather time to catch a few rain drops and a very windy morning which loudly rustled the dry leaves in the tall trees outside our door. That was exciting !!
And even more exciting, on Friday, Oct 4, L’école got to see 2 enormous trees cut and pulverized in front of our very eyes !! Needless to say, we were All amazed !! And tied in beautifully to our Tree theme. Teacher Laurence was even able to ask for small pieces of the trunks for our class !!And made imprints of the texture of the trunk and let all the children smell the wonderful pine scent !!
Outdoor time and Lunchtime continues to be all about learning how to share, take turns, respecting each other’s personal space and personal belongings, as well as refining fine and gross motor skills, while playing with balls of all sizes, leaves and pine needles and each other’s personalities.

And again, thank you and please do not hesitate to ask any questions and share your thoughts. And please don’t forget to pack a sweater as it is now a little chilly during morning recess.

TPS2 – Ariane (2.5’s)

Bonjour, this week we classified our toys, our dolls, and even our books, by size: Grand – Moyen – Petit. We practiced our cutting, and continued to decorate our fall tree. We prepared our next field trip by observing the animals that live in, around, above, and below the trees: like the butterfly, the woodpecker and the magpie, the squirrel and of course the cuckoo and the owl !!! Beginning of October, we celebrated Fall, now Halloween is coming up!

We observed the change in the weather, and the wind blowing… We accompanied our discovery of a new book: The Flaubert walk …. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIsdmM62i_U&list=PL73KKZ6ZNZZE30yEZJUE1ogTpH87a_044
Faubert allowed us to review the vocabulary of the body: Arms – legs – head – belly. We assembled them in playdoo, then with pieces of paper, and we ended up on the drawing of Octoberman. I wish you all, a wonderful Halloween decoration weekend !!!! À lundi!

PS: Laurence (3’s)

We had a wonderful surprise last Friday !
The children got to experience the work of “tree men”, when a crane company came down to cut some trees on Munford road.
They were kind enough to cut some slices of pine for us. The scent of the tree lingered for days in the class!
We observed the rings this week and counted them to determine the pine’s age.
We continue to work on algorithms, small, medium, big, using 5 objects, first names, vertical lines and dots.
Art: autumn trees, bats and apples.
Ask your children about what Dora and her friends did this week…
It’s the premise for our field trip to the forest next Friday.

MS: Anne-Cecile (4’s)

Our teacher had a big mishap this week ; she cut the lyrics of the song ‘coucou’ in 4 pieces by mistake. It took us a long time to put the song lyrics back together. We had a hard time identifying 2 of the pieces: we had to count the words! Now we know that 2 words are separated by a space!

In Math we started talking about the number five.

We finished our art work on the artist Sol Lewitt, with diagonal lines.  You can see the result in the hallway.

Halloween is getting closer! We started to decorate our bulletin board. We are so smart now that we are able to spin a web with yarn!

We learnt a new nursery rhyme: ’Que fait ma main’
